The Center for Teaching and Faculty Excellence, in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, is launching a new program for graduate students. PROV 601 is a new seminar for beginning (1st- and 2nd-year) doctoral and MFA students that will be offered for the first time in Spring 2013.
Many students enter their graduate programs with strong academic backgrounds but a more limited understanding of the opportunities and challenges that they are likely to face during this time. Moreover, gaining greater insight into current higher education trends and the various career paths available to individuals with graduate degrees in particular fields is an important consideration for students who are in the early stages of their academic programs. PROV 601 has been designed for students to explore the many facets of graduate school with an eye toward facilitating their success as graduate students at Mason.
Application materials are now available on the CTFE website (http://ctfe.gmu.edu/professional-development/succeeding-in-graduate-school/prov-601/), and applications are due by Monday, October 29th.
